Wild Thyme Eco retreat Bulgaria

Eating in Palamartsa

Eating at Wild Thyme

Breakfast is included for B&B guests. Guests can request a home cooked meal – we offer delicious home made pizza, vegetarian, Indian curry or traditional Bulgarian.  It’s best to let us know a few days in advance if you would like any evening meals with us.

Guests also have access to the garden in season to pick their own produce and cook in the eco-cottage kitchen.  And we sell a range of home-made produce, including bread, eggs (when available), goat’s yoghurt, cheese and fresh goat’s milk.

Marini’s Home Delivery

We can organise home delivery from Marini’s hotel in Popovo.  They have an extensive menu including lots of traditional Bulgarian cuisine and excellent pizza.

Lisa's Bar Palamartsa

In the village

Milcho’s bar in the village centre serves basic Bulgarian food of meat balls, rice, chicken etc.  There is a lively gathering of people there on some summer evenings, and occasionally a musical jam session.

Thai Restaurant – This summer, Tui will open her new restaurant in the village.  She is an amazing Thai cook and in addition to Thai food she will also be serving Indian and Chinese.  We can’t wait!!

Dining Out

It’s best to go to Popovo (8km away) or Opaka (5km away) for good restaurants.  We can order a taxi if you prefer not to drive.

Popovo Inn is the newest restaurant in Popovo and has an extensive menu of home cooked food.

Marini’s Hotel has a full range of Bulgarian cuisine, good salads, pizzas and pasta.  There is a lovely beer garden.

Macao is an open air restaurant which serves delicious Bulgarian food.

Evita’s is a popular place which serves very good pizzas.  There’s an outdoor verandah for summer dining.

The Old Pine Tree is a small restaurant in a back street which does very reasonably priced traditional Bulgarian food.  They also do a good lunch special.

Sam’s KebabsIf you like kebabs, you’ll love this place.  There’s often a queue outside the door.

Take-away kiosk – If you want to sample what the locals eat, then this is the best place to go for very cheap local food.  Again there’s always a queue.

There are also two traditional Bulgarian restaurants in Opaka.  On hot summer days,  it’s good to combine a swim with lunch at the outdoor pool.
